Product Description

APIXAN-2.5 contains Apixaban 2.5 mg, an oral anticoagulant belonging to the direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) class. Apixaban works by selectively inhibiting Factor Xa, an important component of the blood-clotting pathway.

By inhibiting Factor Xa, apixaban reduces thrombin generation and helps reduce the formation of blood clots.

Apixaban is used in clinically indicated patients for prevention of thromboembolic events, including prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in adults with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

Therapeutic Uses

Apixaban is used under medical supervision for anticoagulation in appropriate patients.

One established indication is:

• Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) with appropriate risk factors.

Apixaban is also used for other thromboembolic indications depending on the patient’s clinical condition and the applicable prescribing information. The exact indication and dose should be determined by the treating physician.
